On WEDNESDAY 9th JULY at 14.00 (CET Time), Dr. Kirsten Boysen-Urban (Hohenheim University) and Dr. Wilhelmina Quaye, (CSIR-Science and Technology Policy Research Institute (STEPRI), Accra), will present a work about The Policy-Research Interface in Africa: Bridging the Divide to Support Evidence-Based Policymaking for Food Systems Transformation
This webinar presents the findings of two studies carried out as part of the EU Horizon 2020 project ‘Strengthening Evidence-Based Policy Practice for Sustainable Food Systems’ (StEPPFoS). The first study shows and discusses the results of a survey sent to researchers, brokers, and policymakers working in Africa. This survey examined the current state of interaction between policymakers, brokers and researchers, and identified the needs of these stakeholders to support evidence-based policymaking for sustainable food system transformation in Africa. The second study examines gaps in research-policy linkages, maps institutions actively engaged in evidence sharing and translation, identifying opportunities and challenges for enhancing inter-institutional leaning, co-generation of knowledge and policy influence. This webinar offers unique opportunity to make a strong case for building a robust, well-connected evidence ecosystem for policy and practice across Africa’s food and nutrition ecosystems.
